Student answer (Band 6.0)

Urbanization is one of the major issues that are facing everyone in large cities. It is believe that the most effecient way to provide residence in big cities is to construct tall apartment blocks.I disagree with this view because building tall compartments in cities would create environmental and health problems in society. One of the main reason is that heighted aprtments can cause many environmental problems in cities. This is because,in large urban areas people already do not have enough space to grow their plants. So, if they built large buildings, they would not have much area to grow their vegetables and plants at homes. As a result, citizens would not have fresh and calmming atmosphere. The other reason for this is that individuals have less social interactions. People do not feel comfortable to go to see their neighbours, so they also do not have much information about their livings. Concequently, it would also lead towards health problems because when people do not go outside or to meet someone, they become mentaly ill and that is also one of the major issues that people have faced these days in big apartments in cities. I disagree with this assertion due to I firmly believe that small homes in big cities would create a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere rather than building tall apartments. In addition, people in small houses have enough space to grow their garden through which they obtain fresh vegetables that are very beneficial for health. To conclude all of this, building big apartment blocks in large urban areas is not the best mode to provide homes. This trend would bring various environmental, social and health concerns and that's an alarming condition for the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree with tall apartment blocks, and you give reasons related to green space, social contact and health. These points are relevant to the question, and the conclusion restates your view. However, some ideas are less fully addressed than others. The discussion of plants and vegetables explains a possible drawback, but it does not show why this makes tall blocks an ineffective way to provide enough homes. The social argument also needs clearer support: the claim that residents avoid neighbours and become mentally ill is broad and not illustrated. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example, and acknowledge the housing-capacity benefit of building upwards before explaining why alternatives are preferable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving from an introduction to two reason paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “One of the main reason,” “The other reason,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the argument, and the main position is easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and also shows some clearer progression. To make the organisation more effective, give each paragraph one focused claim and develop it in a logical sequence. The second reason paragraph shifts from social interaction to mental health without fully explaining the connection. Some transitions, including “The other reason for this,” feel mechanical, while “due to I firmly believe” does not connect the ideas grammatically. Use more precise links and clearer references between claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “urbanization,” “environmental problems,” “social interactions,” and “health concerns.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “refreshing atmosphere.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings are inaccurate, which makes parts of the argument less natural. Examples include “heighted aprtments,” “calmming atmosphere,” “their livings,” and “mode to provide homes.” Some phrases, such as “big apartment blocks,” are repeated rather than varied. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; choosing a smaller number of precise expressions will make your argument clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if they built large buildings, they would not have much area” and a cause-and-effect clause beginning “because when people do not go outside.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “It is believe” has an incorrect verb form, “One of the main reason” has a number-agreement error, and “I disagree with this assertion due to I firmly believe” uses an incorrect clause pattern. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly where commas are missing after introductory phrases. Review verb forms, singular/plural agreement and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure their clauses are joined correctly.
