Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, there is a lot of debate about the construction of tall apartment blocks to facilitate enough houses in large cities. Some peope have different views on this issue. I personally agree with this statement for several reasons. In this essay we will discuss the important approaches to adress this issue.

To begin with, one of the main reasons is efficient land use. This is because large cities are facing the problem of limited accomdation, due to overpopulation. For example, Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan. Infact it is the lively and most prominent city of Pakistan. Considerably, Karachi is facing the similar problem of overpopulation. So, government is now constructing large apartment blocks to accomodate people effectively and saving the land spaces. As a result, large amount of people can easily live in a reasonable space.

Furthermore, another important reason is availability of useful amenities. In other words, people can enjoy additional facilities such as gymnasium, swiming pool and park inside the tall apartment blocks. For instance, in large cities modern flats are constructing generally. These type of luxurious flats are consist of useful amenities such as gymnasium, swiming pool, park religious area. Therefore, it will be the best approach to build tall apartment blocks and people will definitely love to live there because of these type of perks.

In conclusion, I believe that modern development of tall apartment blocks is the best approach to provide sufficient houses specially in large cities because of effecient land use and availability of useful amenities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: “I personally agree,” and the conclusion restates that tall apartment blocks are the best approach. You give two relevant reasons—efficient land use and access to amenities—and the Karachi example helps connect the first point to a real city. However, the reasons are not developed equally or fully. The land-use point explains how apartments accommodate more people, but the amenities paragraph focuses on residents’ benefits rather than showing why these facilities make high-rise construction the best way to provide enough homes. The response would be stronger with more explanation of the housing shortage and a comparison with alternatives such as low-rise development, while keeping your position clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally progress logically, and linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and also shows some features of stronger progression. However, several links feel mechanical, and some sentences repeat or restate the same point rather than advancing it—for example, the amenities paragraph moves from facilities to “people will definitely love to live there” without clearly connecting this to the need for more homes. Improve cohesion by using clearer references and transitions that show cause and effect, and ensure each example directly supports its paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “overpopulation,” “limited accommodation,” “apartment blocks,” and “amenities.” There are also attempts at less common or precise expressions, such as “efficient land use” and “sufficient houses.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “peope,” “accomdation,” “Infact,” and “effecient.” Some collocations are also awkward: “saving the land spaces” and “availability of useful amenities” could be expressed more naturally. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and fluency. Focus on accurate spelling and natural combinations of words, and avoid repeating “useful amenities” and “tall apartment blocks” when a clear alternative is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, including “This is because…” and “because of…,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some sentence patterns are controlled, but grammatical errors occur in several places. For example, “These type of luxurious flats are consist” has problems with demonstrative agreement and verb construction; “modern flats are constructing” needs a passive form; and “So, government is now constructing” is missing an article. There are also issues with sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as “Infact it is…” and the list “park religious area.” Work on subject–verb agreement, articles, passive forms, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence to make sure its structure is complete and accurate.
