Student answer (Band 4.5)
No according to me building tall apartment blocks can be risky or not usefull at all how you can provide everybody their on rooftop i live in lahore pakistan here in 2005 because of earthquake many people lost their homes and plazas and large buildings having more floors destroyed more then homes or houses with 1 or 2 floors so maybe im wrong but this is my point of view and my experience. in apartments i think there is more expenses or costs old peoples cant upstairs if any malfunction in buildings lift how they can go to their home and even housewives have to go and bring groceries or food from market they also will get in trouble so first you have to solve all their problems of all necessary things under one rooftop so they can have access of daily routine used items a large parking for their own convence parking lifts should be more than one and in working condtion. yes i believe large tall apartments can help they cover less area and more people can merge or compress in one place but you should have to be care about their essentials of their life they don not face any troubles or issues. i am sharing my personal experience of 2005 when a natural disaster killed many innocent peoples in earthquake people was died under their own building materials it was a sad incident for develop cities it is normal having tall apartments like karachi islamabad and lahore.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a relevant, recognisable position: you are cautious about relying on tall apartment blocks, while acknowledging that they can house more people on less land. Your earthquake example from Lahore and concerns about older residents, lifts, and access to daily needs provide material for the discussion. However, the response only partly develops the question of whether this is the best way to provide enough homes. Much of the explanation focuses on possible inconveniences and safety, without comparing apartment blocks with alternatives or showing how those concerns could be addressed. The position also shifts from “No” to “yes i believe” without clarifying the extent of your agreement. State a consistent view and develop two or three reasons with specific explanation or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic line of thought: you introduce concerns about tall buildings, give practical examples, then recognise their space-saving benefit and return to the earthquake experience. However, ideas are presented in one continuous block, so the reader has difficulty seeing where one reason ends and another begins. Several points are joined by “and” or “so,” and the repeated references to your experience do not create clear progression. The shift from opposing the proposal to saying tall apartments “can help” also needs a linking explanation. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion; organise each paragraph around one main point and use clear transitions such as “However” and “For example.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “earthquake,” “apartments,” “parking,” “essentials,” and “natural disaster,” and the reader can generally identify your concerns. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or awkward, such as “provide everybody their on rooftop,” “merge or compress in one place,” and “daily routine used items.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “usefull,” “convence,” and “condtion,” also make the writing less clear and polished. Aim for more precise housing-related collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe residents as being “accommodated in high-rise buildings” and refer to “access to everyday necessities” rather than using unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences and use some conditional phrasing, as in “if any malfunction in buildings lift how they can go to their home.” However, sentence structures are limited and these longer attempts are often difficult to follow because clauses are not clearly formed or punctuated. Errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms occur throughout, for example “old peoples cant upstairs,” “people was died,” and “large buildings … destroyed more then homes.” Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas with accurate conjunctions. For example: “If a lift breaks down, older residents may struggle to reach their apartments.”
