Student answer (Band 4.5)
Firstly, population in different parts of the country increases day by day. which also increses alot of problems for citizen. In Pakistan people from villages and small cities come to big cities for better jobs and good life for them and family. And therefore space in the city getting less. I agree with the idea to build tall apartment blocks for enough space in city area. Because it will make life easy for people who go to work leaving their family at home. It is easy for them as they dont have to worry about them as they live in the centre of the city.
Moreover, the groceries and basic necessaties are available for them. They dont have to be worry about small things they need. Also school and tution for children are also nearer and easy to go.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a relevant position—“I agree” with building tall apartment blocks—and give reasons connected to city residents, including access to groceries, schools and tuition. However, the response addresses the question only minimally: the reasons are briefly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example, and the final line, “On the one the,” leaves the discussion unfinished. The response also falls 107 words short of the required minimum, so there is not enough development to fully answer the prompt. To strengthen your response, explain how high-rise housing accommodates more households than other options, consider a limitation or alternative, and support your points with a relevant example before reaching a clear conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the first paragraph introduces population growth and your position, while the next adds points about daily services. Connectors such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Also” signal additions, but the ideas do not progress into a complete argument. For example, the link between people moving to cities and apartment blocks is stated rather than developed, and the final fragment “On the one the,” interrupts the flow. Some sentences also begin with “And” or “Because,” making the connections feel abrupt. Use a clear introduction, separate body paragraphs with one developed main idea each, and a conclusion that restates your position. Make each linking phrase show a genuine relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main topic, with relevant phrases such as “tall apartment blocks,” “big cities,” “basic necessities,” and “centre of the city.” However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings are inaccurate, which makes the writing less precise. Examples include “increses alot,” “necessaties,” and “tution”; “space in the city getting less” is also an awkward way to describe limited urban land. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For instance, you could describe “increasing pressure on urban housing” and refer to “access to essential services.” This would help you explain the issue more clearly without relying on repeated general words such as “easy” and “good.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use mostly simple sentence patterns and attempt some longer structures, such as “people from villages and small cities come to big cities for better jobs and good life for them and family.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Examples include the sentence fragment “which also increses alot of problems,” the missing verb in “space in the city getting less,” and the faulty construction “They dont have to be worry.” The unfinished final fragment also prevents a complete sentence. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement and verb patterns. You can then add a few accurate complex sentences using “because,” “although,” or “which” to explain your reasons.
