Student answer (Band 6.0)
Shelter is an important component of human life. Some people argue that building tall apartments are the solution to provide enough homes in large cities, while others disagree this idea. I believe building tall apartment blocks was an effective idea.
Building tall apartments will save a lots of ground area. However, large urban cities were highly populated, therefore building individual home for everyone is an impossible task. In urban cities, lands are mostly occupied with companies and industries, so there will not be more space for building individual houses. If we build tall apartment blocks, more space will be available for making parks, gardens, etc. These greenish places absorb the pollution produced by the industries up to some extend, likewise it also provides the peace of mind for people. Especially, most of the people living in large cities are migrants of some other places and rural cities, hence they don't want stay here for long period. So most of the people in urban cities prefer buying apartments.
On the other hand, building individual house gives us privacy, big car parkings etc. We can do whatever we want to, without afraiding of our surrounding. Mostly wealthy people prefer this kind of houses, in account for the investment in the land. Though it is a good option, nevertheless it has nothing than the personal benefits. The population in urban cities has increasing dramatically, if people are building individual houses. Then accomodating all the people became terribly impossible
In conclusion, building tall apartments provies sustainable way of life which also improve social interactions. It provides benefit for the human and the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support tall apartment blocks, and you address the alternative of individual houses rather than ignoring it. The points about limited urban land, space for parks, and accommodating a growing population are relevant and give the argument a sound basis. This meets the task well, with some development beyond simply stating an opinion. However, several claims are asserted rather than explained—for example, that city residents are often migrants who do not want to stay long, and that apartments improve social interaction. Explain how these points support your position, and add a specific example or evidence. The counterargument about privacy and parking is relevant, but could be weighed more directly against the housing needs of the whole city.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting apartments, a paragraph considering individual houses, and a conclusion. The progression from land scarcity to the benefits of shared buildings is generally understandable, and linking expressions such as “However,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. At times, though, connections feel mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For instance, the point about migrants appears abruptly after the discussion of parks, and “Though it is a good option, nevertheless” uses two contrasting signals together. Develop clearer links between each reason and your main position, and use pronouns or transitions carefully so references remain easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “highly populated,” “individual houses,” “privacy,” “investment,” and “sustainable way of life.” This is enough to communicate the main argument, and some attempts at more specific language are evident. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “greenish places” would be better expressed as “green spaces,” “car parkings” as “parking spaces,” and “up to some extend” as “to some extent.” There are also spelling errors such as “accomodating” and “provies.” Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms; this will make your ideas sound more natural and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “If we build tall apartment blocks, more space will be available” and “Though it is a good option…”. The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in agreement, tense, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “building tall apartments are” should be “building tall apartments is,” and “large urban cities were highly populated” shifts tense unnecessarily. In “the population … has increasing dramatically,” the verb form is incorrect; use “has increased” or “is increasing.” Review article and plural patterns as well, such as “building individual home.” More consistent control of these forms, alongside varied sentence structures, would strengthen the response.
