Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that to meet the needs of homes for citizens, constructing big building blocks is the best approach. I strongly agree with this viewpoint that in big cities accommodation issue can be resloved by building tall apartments.

In my perspective, due to the increasing population in big cities people are facing tremendous difficulties to find their homes or place for accomodations. People are moving to big cities to avail good opportunities for empolyment and better education. But to meet up their requirements for homes, they can rent appartments blocks as it is extremely difficult to buy a house in big cities due to high prices of lands and also the construction cost included. So building tall buidings and sky scrappers helps individuals to provide their needed place for living.

On the other hands, in every developed country Government solve these issues by building the tall buldings by providing all kind of facilities in them. The accomodation cost is also affordable for the people.

Some people also oppose that tall buildings are not suitable for countrie's infrastructure. People should have their own houses with good architecture style as it gives the freedom to have some natural enviroment.

The idea and approach of tall buildings stands beyond because, to overcome the over population issue and giving homes to citizens, if goverment is spending on architecture style and modren constructions then it is best. This is benefical for the people and also giving them convinient place to live. I believe that this issue can be solved by good infrastructure and tall sky scrappers to help people in providing homes. It is great contribution for the welfare of the society and cope up with the problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment buildings can help address housing shortages in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including population growth, migration for work and education, and the high cost of buying land or building a house. You also acknowledge an opposing view about infrastructure and access to a natural environment. However, the response only partly develops the task: the benefits are mostly asserted rather than supported with a specific example or explanation of how high-rise construction provides enough homes. The counterargument is also brief, and your final paragraph repeats your position without weighing the alternatives. Develop each main point with a concrete example and explain why this approach is best.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from your position to supporting reasons, an opposing view, and a conclusion. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and connectors such as “On the other hand” signal a change in direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the discussion of population growth, employment, education, housing costs, and renting moves quickly between points without fully showing their links. Some transitions are also mechanical, and the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than drawing the argument together. Use clearer topic sentences and develop one central idea at a time; for example, explain the link between urban migration and demand before discussing affordability. More precise referencing would also help readers follow what “these issues” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to urban housing, including “increasing population,” “employment,” “construction cost,” “infrastructure,” and “over population.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main argument, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. Phrases such as “needs of homes,” “meet up their requirements for homes,” and “providing their needed place for living” sound unnatural and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Spelling errors, including “resloved,” “accomodations,” and “sky scrappers,” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise housing-related expressions and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated references to “homes” with suitable alternatives can improve variety without making the writing less clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “due to” and a conditional structure with “if government is spending.” The main message is generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms recur. For example, “in big cities accommodation issue can be resloved” is missing an article, while “On the other hands” has an incorrect plural form. The sentence beginning “The idea and approach of tall buildings stands beyond because” is difficult to follow because its structure and verb agreement are faulty. Some sentences also join several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise accurate articles, subject–verb agreement, and complete clause structures, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and main verb.
