Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including using less land and offering facilities. However, the support remains general and repetitive. The point about accommodating many families is relevant, but the examples about builders constructing more apartments and offering them at low prices do not explain how affordability would be achieved or provide a specific illustration. The second body paragraph lists facilities and mentions living near work, but these ideas are not developed enough to show their impact. To strengthen the response, explain each reason with a clear cause-and-effect link and a concrete example, and consider briefly acknowledging a limitation of high-rise housing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally relate to the central position. Basic signposting such as “To initiate,” “Furthermore” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the sections. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: the first body paragraph repeats the claim about providing homes, while the second moves from facilities to travel without clearly connecting these points. Several linking phrases sound formulaic, and “For example” introduces claims that largely repeat the preceding sentence rather than add evidence. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it, using references and transitions that show the relationship between ideas more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “accommodation,” “affordable housing,” “expenses” and “facilities,” so the reader can identify the subject of the essay. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “apartments blocks,” “gives accommdate to hundred of families,” and “the best way for provides homes.” There are also spelling and word-form errors such as “I endsore” and “accommdate.” Aim to learn common collocations for housing and urban development, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise terms such as “high-rise residential buildings” and “increase housing capacity” would help express your ideas clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few longer structures, including “which gives…” and “as these apartments give…,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in “builders may built,” “which is near to their work,” and “the best way for provides homes.” Articles, plurals and sentence construction also need attention; for example, “a considerable development has been seen apartments blocks” is difficult to interpret, and “First and the foremost reason that less area covered” is not a complete, well-formed sentence. These errors can make the reader pause. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb forms before adding subordinate clauses.
