Student answer (Band 5.5)
it is often argued that, the best solution to to solve the housing problem is to build tall apartment blocks, I strongly agree with statemnet for several reasons.
to begin with one of the main reasons is that tall buildings can provide more apartment than the short one due to it specialized design, in other words rather than building down a lot of distributed apartemnt we gather them and build them up, as a result we get the same amount of houses that was devided in a huge space, ghatered in a smaller space, and we somvefrom another the problem of the random urban design caused by the urge of providing houses.
furthermore, another important reason is that tall building strategy help to organize the urban design and espacially the residential areas, in another word, we will have more space to build other facilities for the residents such as green areas and commercail shops, gyms, cenimas, fun lands for entertainment etc.., it will also provied the space to enhance the efficiency of the cities infrastructur, for example more points for buses to stop, more roads network, therefor the cities will be better organized.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that building tall apartment is a great and briliant solution for solving the housing issue due to it several postive results in a lot of fields that we recently mentioned.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and conclusion, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons: tall buildings can concentrate housing and leave room for facilities and infrastructure. However, these points are asserted more than explained. For example, the claim that high-rise construction reduces “random urban design” is not illustrated, and the list of facilities does not show how these would be provided alongside apartment blocks. The response therefore addresses the question, but the supporting ideas are limited and under-developed. The required minimum of 250 words is not met; at 228 words, the response is 22 words short. Develop each reason with a specific example or explanation, and clarify whether tall blocks are the best solution rather than simply a useful one.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs introduced by “to begin with” and “furthermore,” and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. “In other words” and “in another word” repeat the same function, while the long first body paragraph joins several ideas without clear sentence boundaries. The phrase “as a result” introduces a consequence, but the relationship between concentrated housing and solving urban-design problems needs clearer explanation. Use fewer repeated signposts, divide complex points into shorter sentences, and make references such as “it” and “them” unambiguous. These changes would make progression smoother and cohesion less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “residential areas,” “green areas,” “infrastructure,” and “urban design,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “distributed” housing and “efficiency.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “apartemnt,” “ghatered,” “somvefrom,” and “commercail” obscure intended words, while “build them up” and “random urban design” are imprecise in context. Some expressions are also repetitive, particularly “problem” and “solution.” Proofread carefully and choose more precise collocations, such as “accommodate more residents” or “urban sprawl,” to express your ideas accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“due to…”) and a result clause (“as a result…”). The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical errors are frequent, and some long sentences are difficult to process. For example, the opening has faulty punctuation and an incomplete construction (“it is often argued that, the best solution to to solve…”), while “tall building strategy help” has subject–verb disagreement. Other issues include article and plural forms in “more apartment than the short one” and the sentence beginning “in other words,” which lacks clear grammatical structure. Use complete sentences with one main idea each, check agreement and articles, and practise accurate complex clauses before combining several points.
