Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a position—“I agree with the larger extend”—and give relevant points about the space efficiency of tall buildings and access to jobs, education and healthcare. However, the response only partially develops the task: several points concern the general benefits of city life rather than explaining why tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The drawbacks of overcrowding, traffic, pollution and limited green space are mentioned but not weighed against your position or answered. The conclusion is also cut off at “Moreover, living i”, leaving the final idea incomplete. The response is two words below the required minimum. Develop fewer points with specific explanation or examples, and complete the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a recognisable essay shape, with an introduction, body paragraphs and a concluding section, and paragraph openings such as “To begin with” and “Nevertheless” help signal stages in the discussion. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the relationship between ideas is often unclear. For example, “However, living in cities provide facilities” does not clearly contrast with the preceding point about tall buildings, and “Nonetheless” introduces another benefit without resolving the earlier concerns about overcrowding. Several linking words are used mechanically or inaccurately, and the final sentence stops mid-phrase. Organise each paragraph around one clear claim, explain how it supports your position, and use fewer, more precise transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “overcrowded,” “traffic congestion,” “pollution,” “green spaces” and “facilities,” so the reader can identify the main subject. The range is nevertheless limited and several spelling, word-form and collocation errors make parts of the response harder to understand, such as “consucting,” “urben area,” “public denisy area” and “imigrate.” Phrases such as “larger extend” and “provide houses to people” are also not natural in this context. Build a more accurate set of expressions for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the benefits of high-rise housing from the general advantages of living in a city.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use subordinate clauses, for example “because of people who want to imigrate to cities for better opportunities.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms. Examples include “Cities are becoming more larger,” “constructing new tall building can beneficial,” “it take small space,” and “pollution are increase significantly.” Some sentences also join ideas in ways that obscure their grammatical relationship, particularly those linked with “however” and “moreover.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add one clause at a time. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms after modal verbs, and the structure of comparisons.
