Student answer (Band 6.0)

Accomodation is the arising problem which the world is going to face more in the coming future. Some people beleive that, to provide enough homes in big cities is to construct tall apartment blocks and other do not agree with this statement. I agree with the statement that tall apartment blocks are required in huge cities as the world's population is increasing.

Building with many floor are necessary to build in magnificent cities because so many homes can be allocated at the same place which can reduce the accomodation problem with the increase in population. For example, if a building provides residence to 100 families, if these families decide to build their own home there might not be enough land available for everyone.

If there were no Huge apartments in big cities only the reach people would be able to afford home as the price of land which is already quite high would sky-rockted and only ultra rich people can affford home. The big apartments give the middle class people and the poor people to buy and rent houses in their budgets. For example, once I visited Mumbai which is the highest earning city of India. There are millions of people living in such apartments as there is not much land vacant in that city and the cost of land or bunglows can be afforeded by the rich people only. Constructing mega towers with security the utmost priority is the feasable solution for the worlds' increasing population and it is also practical for low-income families.

To conclude, we can say that constructing tall apartments is the optimal solution especially in metro-cities so that people can afford accomodation also the safety and security of the people shouldn't be compromised.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are needed in large cities, and you support this with two relevant reasons—using limited land efficiently and making housing more affordable. The Mumbai example also helps connect the argument to a real urban context. However, some points are more fully addressed than others. The affordability argument is explained, but the claim that towers are the “optimal solution” is not balanced against possible alternatives or limitations, such as building outward or improving transport to less crowded areas. The point about security is introduced only in the conclusion and is not developed. Extending these ideas with specific explanation would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs give supporting reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. The examples are placed alongside the relevant points, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “For example” is repeated, and the first body paragraph uses two “if” clauses in a way that makes the comparison difficult to follow. The transition from affordability to security in the final body paragraph is also abrupt. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make sure pronouns and references point unmistakably to the intended idea. This would create smoother progression between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “population,” “land,” “middle class,” “low-income families,” and “metro-cities,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “ultra rich” and “security the utmost priority.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “Accomodation,” “sky-rockted,” “affford,” and “bunglows.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “the arising problem” and “give … people to buy and rent houses” do not express the intended meaning precisely. Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose formal terms such as “housing shortage” or “high-rise buildings” where appropriate. This will make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If there were no Huge apartments…” and a relative clause in “which is the highest earning city of India.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Building with many floor are necessary” has problems with number agreement, while “the big apartments give the middle class people … to buy and rent” has an incomplete verb pattern. The opening sentence, “Accomodation is the arising problem,” also uses an unclear grammatical construction. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, plural forms, and verb patterns, and punctuate conditional sentences carefully. More accurate control of these structures would strengthen the response.
