Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that the good solution to provide houses in big cities is to build large apartment blocks. While some believe that large buildings are dangerius for people security, I firmly agree that build large apartments helps more people to get house easily, mainly because of high prices of land and construction material.

Firstly, build a tall apartment has many portions on a very less space so more people live in these portions easily and it also helps people to get these portions in a very less price. For instance, In Pakistan if a person live in a village and get a job in a big city like Lahore tehn he wants to move in a vity with his family so it is very difficult to make house in this city because the prices of land are very high. As a result, these tall apartment helps those people to get a portion like home at affordable price.

Secondly, it also helps those students who came from small cities for education to take rooms in these apartments easily. Although some might argue that tall buildings are very dangerous for the peoples. They think that if any kind of problem occurs in this apartment all the students are suffer rather than if they live in a separate houses, just those students suffer who libbve in this house.

in conclusion, I strongly believe that tall apartments helps numerous people to live in a very less space, due to affordable portions and security.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks can help provide homes, and you give relevant reasons involving expensive land and accommodation for students. The Lahore example makes the affordability point more concrete, and you briefly acknowledge the opposing concern about safety. However, the response addresses the question only partially because the safety argument is not resolved: you report what opponents think but do not explain why your proposed solution remains preferable or how risks could be managed. The student example is also asserted rather than supported with a specific explanation. Develop each main point with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and a relevant example, and make your degree of agreement explicit in the conclusion as well as the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally follow a sensible order, moving from affordability to students’ housing needs and then to a safety concern. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. The second body paragraph shifts from the benefit for students to the opposing view without clearly separating or developing those points, and “these portions” and “this apartment” do not always make the references easy to follow. The conclusion repeats the affordability point but introduces “security” without explaining how it supports your position. Use clearer topic sentences, keep each paragraph focused, and add linking explanations that show how each example supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “apartment blocks,” “prices of land,” “affordable price,” and “separate houses.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the reader pause. For example, “get house easily,” “many portions,” and “a very less price” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “dangerius” and “vity” also show spelling problems. Repetition of “people,” “students,” and “tall apartments” further limits flexibility. Build a more precise set of housing-related expressions and check spelling, while choosing natural combinations such as “find affordable housing” and “accommodate more residents.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession beginning “While some believe…” and a reason clause with “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “I firmly agree that build large apartments helps,” “if a person live,” and “these tall apartment helps”; these need an infinitive or gerund subject and correctly matched verb forms. The sentence beginning “They think that if any kind of problem occurs…” also becomes difficult to follow because its clauses are not controlled clearly. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clause patterns first, then use a wider range of complex structures with careful punctuation.
