Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, rapid urbanization has created a growing demand for housing, roads and buildings. As a result, some people argue that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. Although cities certainly need additional housing, I strongly agree with the idea that tall apartment blocks should be build.
There is no doubt that migration and population growth creates genuine perssure on urban areas. In many cities, mainly in metropollitian cities, a shortage of affordable housing has resulted in overcrowded neighborhoods and rising property prices. Hence, tall apartments can contain less space and can provide enough homes.
Despite these words, these apartment blocks can be beneficial for the public in many ways, such as playng area for kids, big and spacious parkings for vehicles, security for the society and etc. Places like Gurugram has gained significannt popularity in recent times in ter ms of providing good and luxury apartments and their USP is to provide every possible facility within the residential society.
In my opinion, tall apartment blocks should be build in ordr to provide enough homes in large big citie. They can contain less area and have that ability to provide every possible facitly at someone's doorstep.
In conclusion, the need for housing is undeniable, and these tall apartment blocks can fulfill

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear position in the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and keep the response focused on housing in large cities. You also mention relevant pressures, including migration, population growth, overcrowding and rising property prices, and give Gurugram as an example. However, the task is only partially addressed: the main claim that tall blocks provide enough homes is asserted rather than explained, and the benefits listed (facilities, security and parking) are not clearly connected to increasing housing supply. The response contains 204 words, which is 46 words below the required minimum; 16 words copied from the prompt were not counted. This shortfall contributes to the limited development. Explain how high-rise construction uses scarce land efficiently and support the point with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has recognisable paragraphing, moving from the housing problem to claimed benefits, then to your opinion and a conclusion. Basic links such as “As a result,” “Hence,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph says apartments “can contain less space,” while the later paragraphs repeat that they “can contain less area” without explaining the point. “Despite these words” does not clearly connect the preceding problem to the benefits, and the final sentence is unfinished, leaving the conclusion incomplete. To improve, organise each body paragraph around one distinct reason, explain how it supports your position, and use linking phrases only where the relationship between ideas is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “rapid urbanization,” “affordable housing,” “overcrowded neighborhoods,” and “property prices.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “perssure,” “metropollitian,” “significannt,” and “facitly” make the writing less polished, while “big and spacious parkings” and “less space” are awkward or unclear in context. “And etc.” is also unnecessary. Aim for accurate collocations and more precise terms, such as describing high-rise buildings as accommodating many households on a small land area. Proofread spelling and avoid repeating “provide enough homes” without adding a more specific expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including the opening sentence with “As a result” and the concession beginning “Although cities certainly need additional housing.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but frequent errors in sentence structure and grammar make the response less controlled. Examples include “should be build” instead of a correct passive form, “population growth creates” after the plural subject “migration and population growth,” and “Places like Gurugram has” where the verb does not agree with the subject. The final sentence, “these tall apartment blocks can fulfill,” is incomplete because it has no object. There are also punctuation and spacing problems, such as “buildings. As a result.” Practise accurate passive constructions, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentences, then check punctuation carefully.
