Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, finding enough housing is a major problem in many large cities. Some people believe that bulding tall apartment blocks is the best way to solve this issue.I beleieve that, high rise buldings can provide more homes and it use limited land in cities. However, tall apartment blocks can lead to a lack of privacy. Therefore ,I parcialy agree with the above statement.

To begin with, tall apartment blocks can provide more homes .This is because mainly families can live in one bulding ,which saves land in crowded cities.Furthermore if apartment blocks are build tall people can save land beacuse thay do not want use large lands for build house. For instance ,in if government can build tall apartment blocks in the city they have land to make other necessary facilities for the citizens.government can use another lands for hospitals ,play areas and temples. Thus, high rise bulding can solve peoples housing problem and reduce their highly rent issues.

Nevertheless, build tall apartments block provide one disadvantages to people mainly because they lost their privacy.Privacy is a main thing the peoples life yet if they living in tall apartment they have to live close another families because in the tall apartments allways provide near by near houses. Therefore some people can listen and watch others privacy matters. For example ,if one family have problem and if they argue with their family members at the night their sound will be go to another apartment beacause always nigth is a not noisy .it is a problem for the peoples porivacy.Hence ,large cities is to build tall aaprtment can eliminate people privacy.

In conclution,it can provide more homes and that apartment can build in small land is a beneficial ,whwereas it could harmful for individuals privacy.Therefor, this writer partially agrees with the notion that, the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment block.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear, though qualified, position: you “partially agree” because tall blocks can provide more homes but may reduce privacy. Both sides are relevant, and the examples of using remaining land for hospitals and play areas help explain the benefit. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the main ideas are not developed clearly enough. The privacy argument relies on neighbours hearing an argument, but it does not explain why this is a significant or unavoidable consequence of high-rise housing. The conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing together the reasoning. To strengthen the response, explain more fully why high-rise construction is or is not the best solution, and support each reason with a clearer, more convincing example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, one paragraph supporting high-rise housing, a contrasting paragraph about privacy, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Nevertheless,” and “Hence” show an effort to guide the reader. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and connectors are occasionally inaccurate or overused. For example, “Furthermore” introduces a point that largely repeats the land-saving idea, while “Therefore” does not clearly connect the preceding claim to its result. Some references are also unclear, such as “they” in the discussion of government and land. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence; use fewer, more precise linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “housing,” “high rise buildings,” “limited land,” “facilities,” and “privacy,” so the reader can identify the main subject and arguments. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “tall apartment blocks” and “provide more homes.” Frequent spelling errors, including “bulding,” “beleieve,” and “porivacy,” make the writing less clear and reduce control. Some word combinations are also unnatural, such as “reduce their highly rent issues” and “eliminate people privacy.” Aim to learn accurate topic collocations and vary repeated terms where appropriate. Proofreading for spelling and choosing precise expressions will make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “if,” and you use contrast to present two sides. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, so the reader sometimes has to work to understand the meaning. For example, “if they living in tall apartment they have to live close another families” lacks a correctly formed verb and has problems with articles and plurals. In “their sound will be go,” the verb form is incorrect. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the long sentence beginning “For example, if one family have problem.” Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
