Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a widely believed that providing ample amount of resedential facilities in urban cities requires the construction of skyscrappers. However, some people consider the tall apartment blocks as having less significance. I believe that the provision of tall building block are paramount in large cities. The following two paragraphs will include the reasons why i hold this belief and the third one will elaborte anti-arguement of my stance.

Tall buildings in metropolitan cities provide space for roads. As the cities have large population so as the traffic, the construction of skyscrappers provide much space for the roads. This will reduce the traffic congestion and road accidents. For instance, in lahore, there are more apartments than the flat homes, so the roads in lahore are quite wide and spacious when compared to the roads of Gambat which possesses no any skysrapper. For this particular reason, the tall buildings facilitate the common people in their commute.

Moreover, due to tall buildings, it has become accessible to common man to purchase his own house. The price of a flat in a resedential building is much lesser that the price of home at own land. This has supplied relief to people who can not afford to purchase or build their house. For example, my brother purchased land in karachi and constructed his own two bed room home there, it costed almost 100 million rupees, however my friend in karachi bought a two room flat at nearly half price. Thus, these buildings have helped people to buy their own place to live at reasonable price.

On the other hand, many people argue that bulding tall apartments in large cities is not that much substantial. They argue about the fact of unavailbity of roof, and less ventilation in the large buildings. They believe that having proper air crossing and possessing own roof are more vital than any other point.

In a nutshell, building tall apartments in large urban centers is very crucial nowadays. These buildings saves much space which could be used to construct wider roads and also these have assisted individuals to have their hands on their own property at a very minimum amount. Hence, there should be more and more such buildings in order to miigate the traffic problem and helping poor people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support tall apartment blocks, and the response gives two reasons—space for roads and more affordable housing—along with an opposing view about ventilation and access to a roof. The examples from Lahore and your brother’s and friend’s housing costs make the argument relevant. This addresses the task, but the support is uneven. The link between apartment blocks and wider roads is asserted rather than explained: more housing density does not automatically create road space. The counterargument is also only briefly presented and not answered. Develop each point with clearer reasoning and explain why your position remains stronger despite the drawbacks.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally focus on one main idea, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In a nutshell” help readers follow the progression. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. The introduction promises that the third paragraph will “elaborate” the opposing argument, but that paragraph does not explain how it affects your position. Within the first body paragraph, the connection between tall buildings and wider roads needs a clearer logical bridge. Use referencing and transitions to show how each example supports the claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “metropolitan cities,” “traffic congestion,” “ventilation,” and “residential building,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “resedential,” “skyscrappers,” “unavailbity,” and “anti-arguement” are examples. Several expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “have their hands on their own property,” “air crossing,” and “flat homes.” Repeated use of “tall buildings” and “people” limits variety. Aim for accurate collocations and more precise terms, such as “high-rise apartments,” “access to a private roof,” and “affordable housing.” Proofreading spelling would also make your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “however,” and “who,” and most of your meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “the provision of tall building block are paramount” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “These buildings saves” should use a plural verb. In “As the cities have large population so as the traffic,” the clause is incomplete and the construction is faulty. There are also errors in “lesser that the price” and “it costed,” which affect comparison and verb form. Work on building complete clauses and checking agreement and verb forms; greater accuracy in these areas would strengthen your varied sentence attempts.
