Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the era of globalaization, home is a significant factor to consider. For a secure life, individuals need to have a better enviroment and a safe place to stay. In my perspective, I firmly agree with this statement that, buiding tall aprtments is the best way to give enough place to the people who need for staying in the large cities and I will elaborate my stance in the following paragraphs with a suitable conclusion.

To support my agreement with the given statement, I strongly believe that, we can ensure the safety of the people by giving them a place to stay. Because most of the people who rent those blocks are from different part of the country. As a result, the enviroment is not suitable or secure for them and they may feel uncomfortable. In addition, buidings are a long term investment for the owner, as it produces money for him as well as contribute to our economy, For example, a family have booked a plot or a flat it will give them a sense of safety as well as it will make money for the owner.

Discussing another supporting argument in favor of my statement, by living in a multilevel buiding, the bonding of society may grow over the time. The main reason is, they live in the same buildings and they share their memories and feeling. Therefore, it helps to fit in and relax at the same time. However, there are something to be addressed by the government, for example they should provide a plan to build the apartments.

In conclusion, despite some problems can be apeared by tall apartment blocks of building, but it can be solved by taking appropriate measures such as urban plan and structural guidence. I am convinced that my aforemative arguments are justified.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you firmly agree that tall apartment buildings are the best way to provide homes, and you include several relevant points, such as housing security, investment and opportunities for neighbours to connect. However, the response addresses the central question only partially because it does not explain convincingly why building upwards is the best way to increase housing supply in large cities. For example, the discussion of owners earning money and residents feeling safe is only loosely connected to the number of homes available. The social-bonding point is also asserted rather than supported with a specific example. Develop two directly relevant reasons—such as using limited urban land efficiently—and explain how each supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main position is easy to locate, and signposts such as “To support my agreement” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from residents’ safety to owners’ income without showing the connection, while the second shifts from social bonds to government planning. Some linking phrases, including “As a result” and “Therefore,” suggest relationships that are not fully explained. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then develop it with explanation and an example. Clearer links between claims would make the overall argument more cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “long term investment,” “multilevel building,” “urban plan” and “structural guidance,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision, as in “give enough place,” “different part of the country” and “a plan to build the apartments.” There are also repeated spelling errors, including “globalaization,” “enviroment” and “buiding,” which make the writing less fluent to read. Aim for accurate, natural phrases connected to housing supply and urban development, and proofread spelling. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the advantages of high-rise housing rather than relying on broad claims.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “Because” and “as well as,” and your meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “a family have booked a plot or a flat it will give them” joins clauses without the necessary punctuation or connector, and “there are something to be addressed” has an agreement error. The conclusion also combines “despite” with “but,” creating an awkward structure. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, and make sure each complex sentence has a clear main clause. More consistently accurate sentences would strengthen the argument and make your ideas easier to follow.
