Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days advanced cities have great living facilities availble for its residents. The city authorities believe that housing can be more accessable for people, if the high rise buildings are more in numbers. I am strongely agree with this developmental idea.

To begin with, there are multiple benefits of this idea of shared living, such as great use of land, large number of houses, and affordable living. Firstly, the land can be used efficiently when the multistory building is constructed. On one piece of land a lot of families can live togather on varous floors. For instance, in Canada and USA appartment buildings are very common and these complex accomodate multiple families and couples in one place. Moreover, instead of building one house on the land the builders build a multi floor apparment building.

Furthurmore, mostly low income families can not afford buying a house. They prefer to rent an appartment or small condo in a building. So, they can pay monthly rent and make it budget friendly for their family. Life of the high appartment building reduces cost in many other ways as well. For example, people dont have to buy lawn movers or snow removal machines to take care of the house. If something breaks, it is responsibility of the owners to fix and renovate it. This is how it cut the living cost and living affordable.

In conclusion, govermnent plans many ways to provide better and enough housing to the people, and the best way to do is building high buildings. These appartment buildings provide plenty of housing to the people at the same piece of land. This idea is affordable and efficient for all the families.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support tall apartment buildings, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the central issue with relevant reasons, especially efficient land use and lower costs for residents, and the examples of apartment living in Canada and the USA help illustrate your points. The response therefore covers the task well. However, the discussion focuses mainly on benefits to individual residents; it could explain more directly how high-rise construction provides enough homes across large cities, and consider a limitation or alternative to make the argument more fully developed. The point about owners repairing problems is also asserted rather than explained in detail. More specific support would strengthen the case.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant claims. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. At times, however, linking is somewhat mechanical, with several points introduced through formulaic transitions. Some connections between ideas could be made more explicit: for example, the move from affordable rent to reduced costs for lawn and snow equipment would benefit from a clearer explanation of how these savings follow from apartment living. The conclusion also repeats earlier claims rather than drawing the argument together in a more developed way.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “high rise buildings,” “efficiently,” “low income families,” “monthly rent,” and “living cost.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt some topic-specific language such as “condo” and “renovate.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations are noticeable, including “availble,” “accessable,” “appartment,” “make it budget friendly,” and “cut the living cost.” Some repetition of “building,” “people,” and “affordable” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for housing supply and household expenses would help you communicate the argument more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some attempts at more complex structures, such as “when the multistory building is constructed” and “If something breaks, it is responsibility of the owners to fix and renovate it.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “I am strongely agree” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “for its residents” does not agree with the plural subject “cities.” Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “on one piece of land” and “it is responsibility of the owners.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence. Greater control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts more consistently clear.
