Student answer (Band 5.5)
The statement says that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes to increasing population in large cities.
I totally agree to this point, Increasing population makes in really difficult to provide enough home in a large city. So far what i've noticed, most of the people come to seek jobs, do business, and also looking for good opportunities that is what makes it really hard for availability of homes. If tall buildings will build in a city, then they will provide enough homes for all incoming people from all surrounding areas looking to settle there.
We can see examples of big cities like New York City, Tainan City, Berlin, Tokyo where tall apartment blocks have been built to manage and provide enough homes to large population. The main benefit is that they provide housing for more people per area.
The cities like most in Pakistan, where tall buildings are not built, they are continously decreasing the available land for cultivation which is really a bad thing in this era where the hunger is at top for some of the countries, where people do not have even enough available food.
So, the best way to me even for my country is building tall apartment blocks where it will be possible to manage large population and to save Agricultural land. This will also enable us to produce more food which will help other countries. It will also help us to generate more revenue.
So i can say i totally agrees with this point of view 'The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks'.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks can provide housing, and you give relevant reasons, including accommodating more people on limited land and protecting agricultural areas. The examples of cities such as Tokyo and Berlin help illustrate the point. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the central claim that this is the “best way” is asserted rather than compared with other possible approaches, such as building outward or improving use of existing housing. Several claims also need fuller support: for example, the link between apartment blocks, food production and helping other countries is not explained. Develop each reason with a specific example and show why it makes high-rise housing preferable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: it introduces your view, gives examples and reasons, and ends by restating your position. This makes the main argument understandable. However, progression is limited, and several ideas are joined mechanically with repeated phrases such as “So” and “This will also.” The paragraph about Pakistan moves from land use to hunger and then to revenue without clearly explaining the links between these points. Some sentences also contain several ideas at once, making the relationships harder to follow. Use paragraphs to separate your main reasons, and connect each claim to its explanation with clearer referencing and a wider range of cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “tall apartment blocks,” “population,” “cultivation,” and “Agricultural land,” so the reader can follow your main points. There are also attempts to express broader ideas, such as “generate more revenue.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, including “increasing population,” “availability of homes,” and “hunger is at the top.” Spelling and form errors such as “continously” and inconsistent capitalisation also reduce control. Aim for more precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check whether common word combinations sound natural in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. For example, “If tall buildings will build” needs a passive form and a suitable conditional structure, while “I totally agrees” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. In “most of the people come to seek jobs, do business, and also looking,” the verb forms are not parallel. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “I totally agree to this point, Increasing population…” These recurring errors sometimes make the reader pause. Practise accurate conditional and passive constructions, and proofread each sentence for agreement and complete clauses.
