Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed that the better way to provide sufficient homes in large urban areas is to invest in tall apartment blocks. I completely agree with this view because apartments provides enough spaces to people and they are eco-friendly.
Investing in apartments provide people enough spaces. This is because tall apartment blocks can carry a lot of individuals in one place, even though there are a lot of people in an apartment they can still do their own thing without disturbing their neighbours. For instance, a person can move independently in terms of doing cooking, sleeping and celebrating a certain ocassions without causing a disturbance. Therefore, I believe that tall apartment blocks can help people move in one place but at the same time they promote privacy.
In addition, tall apartment blocks help the environment. This is because apartments are only built in one place, in other words it does not require deforestation. A lot of private houses are built with the process of cutting trees because some homes are built with woods. For example in the Philippines, in urban areas a lot of trees were cut down because some Filipinos want their house to be built by woods as they are expensive and attractive. As a result, I believe that this promotes eco-system because it does not require cutting trees.
In conclusion, I agree that the efficient process to provide enough houses is build tall apartment blocks because they can have many people in one place without causing disturbance and they help the environment as it does not require cutting a lot of trees.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I completely agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: apartment blocks can accommodate many residents in one place, and you argue that they reduce tree-felling compared with private houses. The examples about residents’ privacy and housing in the Philippines help make these points concrete. However, the first reason is not fully convincing: describing cooking, sleeping and celebrating independently explains privacy more than how apartment blocks provide enough homes. The environmental claim also needs more careful support, since building apartments still uses land and materials. Develop the link between high-density housing and the number of homes provided, and qualify or substantiate the environmental comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Topic sentences such as “Investing in apartments provide people enough spaces” and “tall apartment blocks help the environment” make the paragraph purposes easy to follow. You also use linking expressions, including “For instance,” “In addition” and “As a result,” to guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger progression. To make cohesion more flexible, avoid relying on repeated “This is because” and “I believe,” and ensure each example directly supports its paragraph’s main claim. The final sentence repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together or adding a clear implication.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your argument, including “urban areas,” “apartment blocks,” “deforestation” and “eco-friendly.” Some choices show an attempt to be precise, but several word combinations or forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “provide people enough spaces,” “carry a lot of individuals,” and “promotes eco-system.” “Ocassions” is also misspelled, and “houses” and “homes” recur frequently. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main ideas, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build a wider set of collocations for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and word forms. For example, describe buildings as accommodating residents and discuss the environmental impact of construction more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a concession with “even though.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “apartments provides” and “Investing in apartments provide” have subject–verb agreement problems; “the efficient process … is build” needs a different verb form; and “without causing a disturbance” is not clearly attached to the claim about accommodating residents. The sentence beginning “For instance” also contains a long list that would benefit from clearer structure. Aim to control agreement and verb forms consistently, and revise longer sentences so that each clause has a clear subject and relationship to the main point.
