Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, population and urbanization is growing fast and to met the requirements of living in urban cities, flats are build and consider as better approach. I strongly agree with this view. This essay will discuss the main reasons for my position.

The primary reason why I hold this view is limited land resources in urban cities because bigger cities have more population growth than residential land as people from the smallest cities move to the bigger cities for employment opportunities and education exposure. For instance, cities like Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore have apartments and tall buildings as these are more populated. Hence, in this way build an apartment is much better as it accommodate more families on relatively small area of land.

Another important factors to consider are efficient use of land in the form of vertical buildings as horizontal buildings occupy more land area. Moreover, more people particularly low- and middle-income families, can access housing in convenient locations. As a result this reduces commuting time, traffic congestion and transportation expenses. For example, students and office employees find it convenient to travel to their schools and workplaces on time without stressing about travelling fare. As a result, it benefit nation and organizations and help them live their life easily and comfortably.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that high-state buildings are best approach to accommodate people by homes in large cities. This is mainly because of limited land resources with respect of population growth in recent years and it benefits people to make their life comfortable . Hence, this approach benefits both nation and individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: limited urban land and the potential for apartment blocks to reduce commuting burdens by placing more residents near services and workplaces. The examples of major Pakistani cities and students or office employees help connect the argument to real situations. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the first reason is explained more clearly, while the link between apartment blocks, affordability, and reduced travel is asserted rather than demonstrated. Develop that second point with a specific explanation or example, and acknowledge a limitation or clarify why tall blocks are preferable to other housing solutions, to make the argument more fully developed and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “The primary reason,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, some linking is mechanical or repetitive: “As a result” appears twice in the second body paragraph and again the argument relies on “Hence.” The relationship between convenient housing locations and reduced commuting is understandable, but the example about travelling to school and work could be connected more explicitly to the claim. Improve cohesion by varying transitions, using clear references to earlier ideas, and ensuring each example is followed by a sentence explaining how it supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “limited land resources,” “population growth,” “vertical buildings,” “traffic congestion,” and “commuting time,” which allows you to discuss the issue clearly. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “employment opportunities.” However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices reduce precision, including “education exposure,” “high-state buildings,” “accommodate people by homes,” and “build an apartment.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “people” and “benefits.” Aim for accurate collocations and natural word forms, rather than adding formal-sounding phrases that do not fit the meaning. A wider range of precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary would make the argument more fluent and convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence explaining that more residents can access housing in convenient locations. The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “population and urbanization is growing” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “flats are build” uses the wrong verb form. In “it accommodate more families,” the verb does not agree with its subject, and “it benefit nation” also needs grammatical correction. Review agreement and verb forms, and check articles and sentence boundaries when editing. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex ideas easier to read.
