Student answer (Band 6.0)
In past few years, construction of tall apartments have increased to provide homes to people in large cities. I strongly agree to this statement because of the increasing population all around the world and the metropolitan cities are more crowded than earlier.
The major reason why apartment blocks are implemented in large cities is that apartments can allow more people to stay than houses. The area of land is limited and the houses cannot effeciently make living for hundreds of people, which is why apartments can settle people due to its blocks house methodology. For example, chain of houses provide housing for limited number of people, where the same area can be converted into multiple apartments to create housing for more number of people per square meter. This explains why apartments are the best way to create homes in large cities.
Another reason behind the construction of tall apartments is that people from villages are moving to big cities, which makes it more crowded. Many families residing in villages move to urban areas in order to find better career opportunities and better education for their children. These opportunities are best found in large cities, which is why the population in these cities increase and building tall apartment blocks becomes a necessity. For example, metropolitan cities tend to have more apartments compared to other cities. These tall building provides home to many settlers in big cities.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that the most efficient way to prvide homes in big cities is through construction of tall apartment blocks because it provides more housing compared to houses and it also helps provide homes to increasing number of settlers in urban regions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective way to house people in large cities. Both main points are relevant—the limited availability of land and migration to cities—and you give examples to support them. However, the first point is explained more fully than the second. The claim that apartments house more people per square metre is useful, but the comparison with houses remains general; the migration paragraph mainly explains why city populations grow, rather than showing in detail why tall blocks are the best response. Develop this link with a specific example or explanation of how vertical construction makes better use of scarce urban land.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression, and the ideas are generally sequenced logically. This already gives the essay a coherent flow. To make cohesion more flexible and precise, avoid relying on repeated transitions and make references clearer. For instance, “These opportunities” refers back to career opportunities and education, while “These tall building” has an unclear singular/plural reference. You could also connect the migration point more directly to the land-efficiency argument, rather than presenting it as a separate observation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “metropolitan cities,” “limited” land, “career opportunities,” and “urban areas.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt some topic-specific phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “make living for hundreds of people,” “blocks house methodology,” and “more number of people per square meter.” There are also spelling errors, including “effeciently” and “prvide.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for familiar, accurate collocations such as “accommodate residents,” “high-density housing,” and “a greater number of people per square metre.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which is why,” and “in order to.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the errors do not generally obstruct understanding. Some grammatical problems remain, particularly with agreement, articles, and plural forms. For example, “construction of tall apartments have increased” needs a singular verb, while “These tall building provides” has mismatched number in both the noun and verb. “The population in these cities increase” also needs a verb form that agrees with the singular subject. Review subject–verb agreement and check articles and noun number when editing; this will make your otherwise clear sentences more accurate.
