Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's world many people are living in flat houses, apart from that some people believe that build tall apartment blocks in big cities is essential. I strongly agree with this statement and give reasons to support my answer.
To begin with, tall apartments blocks in large cities are necessary because we have more space to build another infrastructure beside an apartment. This can help people to support them financially if they give apartment on rent. Meanwhile, in large cities, there are many facilities for people to spend their life easily. For instance, when a person build large apartment blocks, so in the apartment there are many floors on which many people live easily and spend their life with crusial facilities.
On the other hand, it has some disadvantages as in tall apartments there is no security due to small space. As people need privacy from others because everybody has its own life. However, the benefits are excessive, in large cities there are many local markets and stores nearby. Moreover, tall apartments blocks are necessary to build in large cities as it has many benefits. For example, if a person live in apartment can easily do his job because in large cities the facilities of transportation are also have.
In conclusion, people who are thinking to build tall apartment blocks in large cities may right because they invest their money in right decission.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are needed, and you give relevant points about accommodating more residents and access to facilities. However, the response addresses the question only partially because the main reasons are asserted rather than explained in enough detail. For example, the claim that apartments leave “more space to build another infrastructure” is unclear, and the point about privacy is raised but not weighed against your position. The examples about renting apartments and transport remain general. The response is also 17 words below the required minimum. Develop two or three reasons with clearer explanations and specific examples, and make the relationship between each point and providing enough homes explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help identify stages. However, progression within the paragraphs is not always clear. The first body paragraph moves from space for infrastructure to rental income and then to facilities without showing how these points connect. The second introduces disadvantages but quickly shifts back to benefits, so the contrast is difficult to follow. Some linking phrases are also used mechanically or inaccurately, as in “Meanwhile” and “However.” Organise each paragraph around one main idea, explain it, and use linking expressions only where they show a genuine relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “apartment blocks,” “privacy,” “local markets” and “transportation.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear or unnatural. For instance, “flat houses” is not a natural way to describe apartment living, “spend their life with crucial facilities” does not express the intended idea clearly, and “the benefits are excessive” is an unsuitable collocation. There are also spelling errors such as “crusial” and “decission.” Build a more precise set of housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and collocations so that your ideas are easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “some people believe that build tall apartment blocks … is essential,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “when a person build … so,” which has subject–verb agreement problems and an unnecessary connector. Other errors include “if a person live” and “the facilities of transportation are also have.” Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “tall apartments blocks.” Practise accurate clause construction, subject–verb agreement and article use before adding more complexity. Shorter, correctly formed sentences would make your reasoning clearer.
