Student answer (Band 4.5)

In contemporary society, there are huge cities and the place to live their is a controversial issue among all the society and individuals. Several individuals say that we have to provide enough homes in a society by building tall building blocks. According to my perspective, it is the best way to provide homes to everyone by building huge apartments.

Initially, we have to build huge apartments for every single family. The reason is that, it includes all the facillities which are needed for a common family. And it also surround the small piece of land. The taller apartments include many facillities like parking lots, groccery stores, and other such kind of normal facillities. They are also very neat and clean. The main thing is that it provides security to all of us. anyone who have to entered the building is that it had to passed from a strict security sytems. There are security cameries and gaurds which are dutying all over the time. There are also small medical stores in it. For example, if a person gets tired they can take medicine from it and cure it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear position in the introduction: you believe tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes. Your points about shared facilities, security and using less land are relevant to the question. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the supporting ideas are brief, and the example about taking medicine when tired does not clearly show how apartment blocks solve the housing shortage. The final paragraph begins to introduce small homes and pollution but is unfinished, so the alternative is not explained and your extent of agreement is not developed. The response also falls short of the required 250 words. Develop each reason with a clear explanation or relevant example, and complete the comparison before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph supporting apartment blocks and the start of a contrasting point. The reader can follow the main position, and transitions such as “Initially” and “While on the other hand” signal the intended direction. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph stops mid-sentence, leaving the argument incomplete. Some links are mechanical or unclear: “And it also” begins a sentence without a clear reference, while “The main thing” does not precisely identify the point being introduced. Group related reasons into complete paragraphs, use clear references to connect sentences, and ensure each paragraph develops one main idea through to its conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “security,” “parking lots,” “grocery stores” and “pollution,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “huge apartments,” “normal facilities” and “small piece of land.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “facillities,” “groccery,” “cameries” and “gaurds,” which reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Choose more precise terms for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling. Avoid repeating “facilities” by naming the specific services or explaining their benefit.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, for example, “The reason is that, it includes…” and “anyone who have to entered the building…”. However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to read. Examples include “it also surround,” “anyone who have to entered,” and “it had to passed.” Several sentence fragments or awkwardly separated clauses also appear, such as “And it also surround…” and “The reason is that, it includes…”. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and correctly conjugated verb, then check agreement and punctuation. More accurate control of basic structures will make your ideas easier to follow.
