Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear position in the opening—“I totally agree”—and return to the idea of tall apartment blocks in the conclusion. The points about population growth, employment opportunities and Mumbai’s high rents are relevant to housing pressure in large cities. However, the response only minimally develops the task: it does not explain why building upwards is the best solution or consider any limitations or alternatives, and several points are difficult to follow. The response is 141 words, 109 short of the required 250; the 19 words copied from the prompt were not counted. This leaves little space to explain and support your reasons. Develop two focused arguments and add specific explanation or examples for each.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic overall shape, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some indication of how the answer is organised. However, the ideas within paragraphs are not arranged coherently: the first body paragraph begins with the fragment “enough homes in big cities,” then shifts between housing shortages, jobs and migration without clear links. The second paragraph’s point about “sulm area people” is also unclear, and the examples do not connect smoothly to the argument. Use complete topic sentences, explain each point in a logical sequence, and make references between sentences clearer rather than relying mainly on basic signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “rural area,” “career,” “rental” and “Mumbai,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is basic and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to understand. For example, “Metropolics city,” “highest number to people,” and “good appourtinity” do not express the intended ideas clearly; “buils,” “provied” and “conclusion” are also misspelled or incorrectly formed. Repetition of “big cities,” “people” and “homes” further limits precision. Build a more accurate set of housing and urbanisation terms, and check spelling and common word combinations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple patterns, and there are attempts to connect ideas with “due to” and “if.” However, sentence structures are very limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation and grammatical relationships sometimes distort meaning. For instance, “I totally agree on the statement due to large cities need to build tower” does not form a correct clause after “due to,” while “person always preferd to big cities stay” has an unclear subject and word order. The fragments “On the one hand, enough homes in big cities” and “the highest home rental” are not complete sentences. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences, then combine them with accurate subordinate clauses. Check articles, plurals, verb forms and punctuation as you revise.
