Student answer (Band 6.0)
A common theory is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. There are lot of arguments to support, and against this idea. As a person with first hand expirience, i belive that, apartment buildings are a good solution to manage scarce land resource in a large city.
When planning a city, managing land is a main hurdle. A town planner has to provide space for trasportation, entertainment, commercial buildings, educational facilities etc. Therefore he has a very limited space to allocate as the residential area. In this scenario he has to be creative on gaining maximum utilization from this limited allocation. The construction of apartment blocks is a good solution in this situation. Rather than providing a land plot for an each family, a number of faimilies find a residence in same land space.
Creating separate sectors for differant activities is another important factor in the city planning. Allocating differant areas for different activities such as commercial, education and residential is important in many ways. Providing residential apartments help in many ways in above matter. A city can keep all residential homes in a single area hence will avoid unhealty interaction with other activities such as commercial campaigns and industrial expansions.
Further it's very convinient to provide required services when residential homes gathered in to apartment blocks and allocated to a designated area. This will help to evolve more convinient services such as retail sales, entertainment facilities, passenger transport services etc.
Though all the above plus points visible, there are some negetive arguments too towards erecting tall apartment blocks. The first objection is distance with nature. a person living in a apartment block has a very limited contact with natural enviornment. Further the common result of urbanization, the enviornment pollution is an another minus point for residential apartments.
After considering above arguments, my opinion is a well managed apartment system can be a good solution for residential homes problem in a large city.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support apartment blocks as a practical response to scarce urban land, while acknowledging drawbacks. You address the question with relevant reasons, including the need to reserve space for transport and public facilities, and the convenience of providing services in concentrated residential areas. The counterpoint about reduced contact with nature also shows some balance. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the point about separating residential and commercial activities is asserted rather than explained, and the pollution claim is not clearly linked to tall apartment blocks. To strengthen the response further, develop these points with a specific example and explain more directly why high-rise housing is the best option compared with alternatives.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces a position, develops several supporting reasons, considers disadvantages, and concludes. Paragraphs generally have a clear focus, and signposts such as “Therefore,” “Further,” and “Though” help show relationships between ideas. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few connections are unclear. For example, the claim that apartments prevent “unhealthy interaction” with commercial activities does not follow clearly from the preceding point about separating city sectors. The final paragraph also repeats the position without drawing together the main reasons. Improve progression by making each paragraph’s central claim explicit, using references such as “this concentration” clearly, and ensuring that each supporting sentence explains or illustrates the point before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for urban planning, including “scarce land resource,” “residential area,” “designated area,” and “passenger transport services.” These choices help communicate the topic, and some phrases show an attempt to be precise. However, spelling errors and awkward or inaccurate word combinations are noticeable, such as “trasportation,” “faimilies,” “unhealty interaction,” and “common result of urbanization.” Phrases like “maximum utilization from this limited allocation” and “distance with nature” are understandable but not natural in this context. Aim for more accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, you could describe “making efficient use of limited land” and “limited contact with nature,” which express your ideas more idiomatically.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including cause-and-effect sentences beginning “Therefore” and a contrast introduced by “Though.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include the missing article in “There are lot of arguments,” the incomplete construction “the best way … is to build” in the opening sentence, and the sentence fragment “a person living in a apartment block.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “a city can keep all residential homes in a single area hence will avoid.” To improve, check each sentence for a complete subject and verb, use articles consistently, and separate linked clauses with appropriate punctuation or conjunctions. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence forms clearer.
