Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including high land prices, migration to cities and the possibility of preserving land for other uses. The Chandigarh and Jalandhar example also helps make the argument more specific. However, several points are only briefly stated: the benefits of amenities are listed rather than explained, and the concern about disasters and lifts is not weighed against your overall position. The response is also 20 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop these ideas. Extend the explanation of how high-rise housing increases supply and address the counterargument before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting points, a counterargument and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “In addition,” “Furthermore” and “On the contrary” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not always clear: the first supporting paragraph moves from migration and land prices to amenities, then to agriculture and industry without fully explaining the links. The counterargument is introduced abruptly, and “The first argument” does not clearly identify whose argument is being presented. Some transitions feel formulaic rather than guiding the reader through a developed line of reasoning. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to urban housing, including “congested space,” “migrate,” “accommodate,” “natural disaster” and “agricultural.” These choices show some range beyond basic everyday language. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are frequent, as in “accomdation,” “slove,” “urban,” “apartemts” and “amitites,” and several phrases are difficult to interpret, such as “better future build” and “reserved less space.” Some collocations are also unnatural, including “higher price of land” and “pocket friendly” in this formal essay. These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Check spelling carefully and learn common academic combinations such as “the high cost of land” and “affordable housing.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a conditional idea about what happens when a lift stops working. However, the range is limited, and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “The foremost argue support that a significant number of people migrate for rural to urban area” has problems with sentence construction, prepositions and number agreement. Articles and plurals are also often missing or inconsistent, as in “in natural diaster” and “these citizens mostly live in tall building.” Punctuation and spacing are unreliable, particularly around commas and sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check articles, plurals and punctuation.
