Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days, land shortage is a major problem. The better way to provide accomadations in the big cities is to manufacture the tall building blocks. I hold the view that it is a perfect solution of this problem. In this essay, I will elaborate the importance of tall buildings, and present evidence to support my perspective.

To begin with, one of the aspects that individuals often talk about is shortage of land for making seprate homes for very nuclier family. Moreover, nowadays population of cities is increasing fastly, but and we have not enough land for making homes for all people. For instance, in Lahore we have not land, but many individuals want to move towords Lahore because of facilities. We should built tall building in which we can make more than three hundred homes. We can make parkingstands under ground.

Another significient factor is money, we can save a huge amout of money by making tall buildings because one of the major expencess for making home is land. Furthermore, it is beneficial for saving material. In seprate homes we make extra rooms. For instance, in many countries people make large homes for future use, but they do not think that we can change apartment if we need more space.

From my perspective, it is beneficial for both local individuals and economey of the country because this money we can invest in a business. It can give profit to government and owner, so we should live in small apartments of tall buildings.

To sum up, tall buildings are beneficial for individuals and government because it saves investments, land and material. I strongly agree with that government should build tall buildings in big cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment buildings, and the response stays focused on providing homes in cities. You give relevant reasons, including limited land, the cost of land, and the possibility of using savings for business; Lahore is also offered as an example. However, the task is only partly developed. The claim that a tower could contain “more than three hundred homes” is not explained, and the financial argument needs clearer reasoning about how apartments reduce costs for residents or governments. The point about families changing apartments is also difficult to connect to the main argument. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example, and consider briefly addressing a limitation of high-rise housing before reaffirming your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, a paragraph stating your view, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally group related points, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the move from land shortage to underground parking is abrupt, while the discussion of large homes and changing apartments does not clearly build on the cost argument. Some linking phrases are repetitive or do not show the precise relationship between ideas. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the reason it supports; also make references such as “this money” more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “land shortage,” “population,” “apartments,” “material,” and “government,” so the main subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “accomadations,” “fastly,” “expencess,” and “economey” are examples. Phrases such as “manufacture the tall building blocks” and “perfect solution of this problem” are not natural choices for this context. Aim for accurate, conventional expressions rather than forcing more formal wording. Learning collocations such as “construct high-rise apartment blocks,” “housing shortage,” and “reduce construction costs” would make your argument clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which,” but the range is limited and complex constructions are often faulty. For example, “nowadays population of cities is increasing fastly, but and we have not enough land” contains problems with the article, adverb form, and sentence connection. “We should built tall building” also has an incorrect verb form and singular/plural pattern, while “it saves investments, land and material” has unclear agreement and phrasing. These errors recur and sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences with one clear main clause and a correctly formed subordinate clause. Check articles, verb forms, and singular/plural agreement during revision.
