Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, due to dens population in urban areas, it is difficult to find a living space. In upcoming years, it is expected that the finding homes will become more challenging because of the projection of population increase in the future. The people living in rural areas have less opportunities in terms of jobs, health and other facilities that's why everyone wants to move in a developed cities. To handle this situation, i strongly believe that the consturctions of tall buildings are necessary. This is the best possible soloution to accommodate people struggling to find a space for living. To build sky scrapers and apartments blocks in these tall buildings have several reason why this is benificial. First of all, these apartments will be cheap than tha homes and also in very short space these buildings facilitate multple families.

The best soloution to solve housing crises in urban areas is to build tall buildings for apartment blocks. These blocks will be cheap and eaisly available for people. The apartments will accommodate the more peoples comparing with houses. In houses, only one family can stay and on the same place the multi-story building provide accommodation to several families. For example, if the building is built on the same area as homes are on, the building will be 5 floor tall and accommodate 5 families. The price of houses will be higher, if on the same area if multiple families will be adjust, the price automatically goes down.

Furthermore, to facilitate several familes the houses are not enough in large cities that's why the best option is to build sky scrapers. These buildings cover the same area as houses coverd. Although provides space for living to more people. This will help to manage multiple people on the same area. Due to this solution no more housing crises and no more higher prices of accommodation in cities. This will help people to overcome the problem of homeless people.

Overall, it is evident that the best way to provide enough space for living in urban areas is to build tall buildings. I believe that these soloution will accommodate more people in less amount and also they will no longer suffer with problems of finding suitable space for living.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment buildings as a way to address urban housing shortages, and you give relevant reasons, including accommodating more families on the same land and potentially reducing housing costs. The comparison between one house and a five-storey building is a useful example. However, the response develops essentially one central argument, repeating the points about space and affordability rather than exploring them in depth. The claim that this approach would mean “no more housing crises” is also too absolute and is not supported; you could acknowledge limits such as infrastructure or the need for other housing types. Explain more precisely how high-rise construction increases supply and under what conditions it can make homes affordable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main position is easy to follow. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “Furthermore” help signal the argument. However, progression between the body paragraphs is limited because both repeat that tall buildings house more people on the same area and reduce costs. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “Although provides space for living to more people,” which does not connect grammatically to the preceding sentence. The conclusion also restates the same points rather than drawing the reasoning together. Give each paragraph a distinct focus and use clear references and complete linking sentences to show how each idea supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “urban areas,” “accommodation,” “apartments,” and “housing crises,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main argument. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “people,” “buildings,” “space,” and “solution,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate. For example, “dens population” and “finding homes” are not natural expressions in this context, while “the price automatically goes down” is imprecise. Spelling errors such as “consturctions,” “soloution,” and “eaisly” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Build a more varied set of housing-related expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully; this will make your argument clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “because of the projection of population increase in the future,” but complex structures are often faulty, and many sentences rely on simple patterns. Errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction occur throughout. Examples include “the finding homes will become more challenging,” “everyone wants to move in a developed cities,” and “the apartments will accommodate the more peoples.” The sentence beginning “Although provides space for living to more people” is incomplete, and the final sentence has an unclear structure. These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check agreement and articles.
