Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main change from staff dining rooms to takeaway and coffee facilities, and you note several important features that remain, including the kitchen, central tables and chairs, and toilets. You also mention the new salad bar, recycling bins and outdoor seating, so the response covers the main stages of the redesign. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the staff dining rooms were along the north wall, not “in the centre,” and the barbecue is outside to the south-west rather than simply in the south corner. The overview that there were “fewer facilities” is not clearly supported; the redesign adds several facilities. Make the overall comparison more precise and describe the new outdoor area and changes to the northern rooms more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the café before and after the redesign. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several sentences are fragments or joined awkwardly, such as “which all kind of foods and drinks are avaliable” and “in the last corner made a kitchen.” Linking words such as “additionally,” “moreover,” and “also” are used, but they do not always clarify how details relate. Organise each description by location—for example, north, west, centre, then south—and use clear transitions to distinguish unchanged features from additions and replacements.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “tables and chairs,” “toilet,” “recycling bin,” “salad bar,” and “outdoor seats,” which allows the reader to identify many features. There are also attempts to describe change, such as “converted” and “replaced.” However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear, including “two buildings,” “taken away food,” “outer seats,” and “in the last corner.” Spelling errors such as “illustreat,” “caffe,” “avaliable,” and “dinning” are noticeable and sometimes slow understanding. Use precise plan-description vocabulary and check spelling; for example, refer to the two panels as “the café before and after the redesign,” not as two buildings.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually recover the intended comparison. However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent. Many clauses lack a subject or a correctly formed verb, as in “in the centre of hall made two staff dinning rooms” and “the south corner make barbecue.” Articles and prepositions are also often missing or inaccurate, while sentence boundaries and capitalisation are unreliable. These errors make some relationships between features difficult to follow. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “Two staff dining rooms were located along the north wall,” and use past tense for the former plan and present tense for the current one.
