Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main contrast between the earlier café and its redesigned version, and mention several relevant features, including the hot-meals counter, takeaway food, coffee bar, salad bar, recycling bins and outdoor seating with a barbecue. However, some important details are missing or unclear: the two staff dining rooms were replaced by takeaway and coffee areas, and two new doors connect the café to the outdoor seating. The description of the original layout is also imprecise: “family dining section” is not shown; these were staff dining rooms. Your overview says the café had “major changes” but does not clearly summarise the main structural changes. Focus on accurate comparisons and distinguish what stayed the same, such as the kitchen, central tables and chairs, and toilets, from what was added or replaced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to the former layout and then the current one. This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several features are joined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, “Similarly coffee bar beside to counter the table and chair remain unchanged” combines separate points without clearly showing their relationships. Linking words such as “Firstly,” “Next,” and “However” are used, but some do not express the intended connection. Organise the details by location or by what changed and what remained, and use shorter sentences with clear references to each plan.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a café plan, including “serving area,” “take away food,” “salad bar,” “recycling bins” and “outdoor seating.” This shows an attempt to cover the main facilities. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. For instance, “family dining section” mislabels the staff dining rooms, while “barbeque station” and “rest room” are less suitable descriptions of the features shown. There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “collage” and “havd.” Use precise plan vocabulary and avoid unsupported claims about the café’s purpose or attractiveness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between features difficult to understand. Examples include “The cafe have major changes,” “the cafe before were havd simple design,” and “the table and chair remain unchanged,” where subject–verb agreement and verb forms are faulty. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic: “had kitchen” needs an article, and several sentences run together after commas, as in the description beginning “The cafe before had kitchen.” Use past tense for the former plan and present tense for the current one, check singular and plural agreement, and separate each main comparison into a complete sentence.
