Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the addition of the outdoor seating, the barbecue, and the internal layout changes. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant details. However, the response could be improved by more precisely describing the location of these changes (e.g., using directional language like 'in the north-east corner'). While you covered the main points, the description of the kitchen area is slightly vague. Overall, you have addressed the requirements of the task well, providing a logical summary of the visual information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition to that', and 'overall' to connect your ideas. However, the paragraphing is a bit unbalanced, with a very short final paragraph. Additionally, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, ensure that your sentences flow more naturally into one another and that your paragraph structure is more consistent. The referencing is generally clear, allowing the reader to follow the progression of the changes easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'alteration', 'intact', and 'introduced'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'new two doors are built' (should be 'two new doors') and 'bigger size of recycling bins' (a bit wordy). You successfully convey the meaning, but the vocabulary is somewhat functional rather than sophisticated. To improve, try to incorporate more precise descriptive language related to spatial changes and layout modifications to enhance the professional tone of your report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'the addition of outdoor seating and the barbecue' (missing article usage) and 'introduction the outdoor seating area' (missing preposition 'of'). There are also some punctuation issues, such as the comma placement in the first paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
