Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the addition of the salad bar, barbecue, and outdoor seating. You also noted the areas that remained unchanged. However, the response lacks a clear overview that synthesises the most significant changes. While you mention some details, the description of the layout changes is occasionally imprecise, such as the reference to the 'entrains area' (entrance). To reach a higher band, ensure your overview highlights the most striking transformations rather than just listing individual changes. You have covered the requirements of the task well, but the analytical depth could be improved by grouping features more logically.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of information. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the other side' and 'The most noticeable change', to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'location of this is the same'—it is not immediately clear what 'this' refers to). The concluding paragraph is quite weak and does not effectively summarise the main trends. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renovation', 'facilities', and 'situated'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and spelling errors, such as 'collage' instead of 'college', 'blue prints' (blueprints), and 'entrains' (entrance). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit your score. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing spatial changes, such as 'relocated', 'converted', or 'extended', and ensure you check your spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'There was two separate staff dining rooms' (subject-verb agreement), 'where all food and drink had provided' (passive voice error), and 'when also customers should enjoy' (incorrect relative clause). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. While you attempt complex structures, the accuracy is not consistent enough for a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive voice, as these are essential for describing diagrams accurately.
