Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the addition of the barbecue, salad bar, and outdoor seating. However, the description is somewhat disorganized and lacks a clear overview of the most significant changes. While the task is addressed, some details are slightly inaccurate or confusingly phrased, such as the mention of 'staff dining rooms' which is not clearly supported by the visual data. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the most striking transformations—such as the expansion of the seating area and the introduction of new food facilities—before detailing specific locations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow between sentences is often mechanical or awkward. For example, the transition 'Similarly on front side of cafe' is grammatically incomplete and confusing. The use of cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Additionally' is present but sometimes feels forced or incorrectly placed. The progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by unclear referencing, making it difficult to visualize the layout changes clearly. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence logically follows the previous one will enhance coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'updated cafe has gradually development' and 'new facilities more rather than past years'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the description. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology for describing changes, such as 'transformed', 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'replaced'. Avoid repetitive phrasing and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form (e.g., using 'developed' as a verb rather than 'development').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a college cafe were less facilities') and missing articles or prepositions (e.g., 'in the middle of tables and chairs'). Sentence structures are often simple or incorrectly constructed, leading to confusion. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are frequently faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for basic agreement errors would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
