Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given diagrams represent the plans of a college that how it looked in past and what modifications can be seen now.
Overall, the whole illustration gives information about the advanced features of a college cafe that were not established in past.
It is quite evident from the first figure that before the redesign of cafe, there were few facilities with a bin in the right side of the collefe canteen and toilents on the ground of right corner. While, in the upper middle of cafe there were two dining rooms for staff and in the centre of the area tables and chairs could be seen. There was a kitchen at the upper left side of the cafe and below that a serving area for all food and drilk items.
Meanwhile, there are alot of changes can be noticed at present but the place of kitchen, tables and chairs anld also toilets remain same as that of past.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the changes, but it fails to provide a comprehensive overview of the modifications. While it mentions that the kitchen and toilets remained the same, it neglects to describe the new features, such as the expanded seating area, the addition of a coffee bar, or the removal of the staff dining rooms. The description is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task requirements. The summary of the 'before' state is also somewhat vague, failing to clearly contrast the layout with the 'after' state.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the awkward use of 'While,' at the start of a sentence. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the description of the past and the present is abrupt. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related information to guide the reader through the comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'collefe' for college, 'toilents' for toilets, and 'drilk' for drink. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe spatial changes effectively; for instance, the writer relies on basic directional language. There is little attempt to use precise terminology related to floor plans or architectural changes, which limits the ability to convey information accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the plans of a college that how it looked in past' (incorrect clause structure) and 'there are alot of changes can be noticed' (missing relative pronoun/incorrect verb form). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents a higher score.
