Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 150 words, reaching only 81 words. Because the task is incomplete, the response fails to report all main features or make necessary comparisons between the two plans. The description is fragmented and stops abruptly, meaning the information is not fully developed or presented in a way that satisfies the requirements of the task. To improve, you must ensure you cover all aspects of the visual data, including specific changes to the layout, seating, and facilities, while ensuring the response meets the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear structure due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the body paragraphs are not developed. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' are used, but the overall progression of ideas is hindered by the abrupt ending of the text. To improve, you should plan your response to include a clear introduction, a summary of main trends, and two distinct body paragraphs that detail specific changes, using a variety of linking words to connect your ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'attractive' and 'looks'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'diagram of buiding' instead of 'diagram of the building' and 'huge outdoor sitting plan' which is not the most natural collocation for a cafe layout. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to use more precise descriptive language related to architectural changes and spatial arrangements.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors, including 'there is no huge changes' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'makes the look of cafe' (missing article). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the text is too short to demonstrate a wide range of complex grammatical structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and incorporating a mix of simple and complex sentences to describe the changes between the two plans accurately.
