Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to describe the changes between the two plans, but it fails to provide a clear overview or a structured comparison. The description is largely a list of features rather than an analytical summary. Furthermore, the student includes external information not present in the diagrams, such as 'order the food from home for delivery' and 'delicious food', which is not appropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. The response lacks a clear focus on the spatial changes, and the reporting of features is fragmented and lacks the necessary synthesis required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks logical progression. Paragraphs are poorly defined, and the sentences within them do not flow naturally. There is a significant lack of cohesive devices; the text relies on simple, disjointed sentences. Referencing is often unclear, and the transition between the 'before' and 'after' states is abrupt. The overall structure is mechanical, and the lack of linking words makes the relationship between the ideas difficult to follow. The writing does not demonstrate the ability to organise information into a coherent report.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. The student uses informal and imprecise language, such as 'fabulous things' and 'very good', which is unsuitable for an academic report. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'drinking and eating foods' and 'when the free from their work'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and the student struggles to use precise terms to describe the layout or the changes shown in the diagrams. The errors in word formation and usage occasionally impede the clarity of the message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often affect readability. There are persistent issues with sentence structure, such as 'how looks it now' and 'these are things were present'. Subject-verb agreement is frequently incorrect, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also problematic, with many sentence fragments and run-on ideas. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors and the lack of variety in sentence construction prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
