Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response identifies the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the kitchen, seating, and new additions like the barbecue area. However, the description is somewhat repetitive and relies on subjective descriptors like 'unmanaged' or 'well managed' rather than objective reporting of the physical changes shown in the diagrams. While the overview is present, it lacks a clear, concise summary of the most significant transformations. The inclusion of details like 'salad section' and 'barbecue departments' shows an attempt to report data, but the overall analysis lacks the precision required for a higher band. To improve, focus on describing the spatial changes and additions more objectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of varied cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often mechanical or missing, making the flow feel disjointed. For example, the frequent use of 'before redesigning' and 'after redesigning' at the start of multiple clauses creates a repetitive rhythm. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the use of punctuation is inconsistent, which affects the overall readability. Improving the use of linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast' would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Words like 'managed', 'redesigning', and 'area' are used frequently, which restricts the range of expression. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'all the development stage of cafe' and 'well equiped kitchen utensils'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'desigin', 'equiped', 'seperated') prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to spatial layouts and facility upgrades, and ensure careful proofreading to avoid basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'the cafe area'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'it show' instead of 'it shows'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'before and after how it looks like'). Punctuation is also problematic, with spaces missing after periods and inconsistent capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and basic sentence construction would be beneficial.
