Overall the building was not expanded but quiet a few changes were made in the surrounding areas of the cafe.

After redesigning the cafe an outdoor sitting was constructed at the front side facing south and a place for barbecue was also added in the corner of the outdoor sitting facing the east. Moving on to the indoor area of tables and chairs, now a salad bar is also constructed at east side same as the outdoor.

Moreover the two sections on the north side of the rooms that were once the staff dining rooms are now redeveloped into take away food section and a coffee bar while the bin on west side was expanded to recycling bins. In the kitchen, the serving area that was used to serve all foods and drinks is now renamed to hot meals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, including the new outdoor seating, the salad bar, and the repurposing of the staff dining rooms. You have successfully identified the key changes, such as the expansion of the recycling bins and the renaming of the serving area. However, the report could be improved by providing more precise comparisons between the 'before' and 'after' states. For instance, mentioning the removal of the original staff dining rooms more explicitly would strengthen the summary. Overall, the information is accurate and addresses the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, moving from the outdoor area to the indoor sections. Paragraphing is used to separate the general overview from the specific details, which helps the reader follow the progression. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Moving on to', though the flow could be improved with more varied linking words. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed. Improving the transition between the description of the outdoor area and the indoor area would enhance the overall cohesion of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renovated', 'redeveloped', and 'constructed'. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'quiet a few changes' (should be 'quite') and 'outdoor sitting' (should be 'seating'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band. Incorporating more specific descriptive language, such as 'transformed into' or 'replaced by', would elevate the lexical quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'a place for barbecue was also added' (missing article 'a' or plural 'barbecues') and 'at east side' (missing 'the'). Additionally, the phrase 'same as the outdoor' is slightly awkward and lacks grammatical precision. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on article usage and prepositional phrases will help improve your accuracy.
