Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, including the kitchen, serving areas, and the addition of outdoor seating. However, the report lacks a clear overview of the most significant changes, such as the transition from a single serving room to specialized zones. While the main features are identified, the description of the 'recycling bins' and 'salad bar' is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that the comparison between the 'before' and 'after' states is more analytical, focusing on the transformation of the layout rather than just listing individual items. The summary is functional but lacks the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into two paragraphs, which is appropriate for a short report. Ideas are generally sequenced logically, moving from the overall layout to specific changes. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition between sentences could be smoother; phrases like 'In addition' and 'According to the given plan' are used, but the flow between the description of the kitchen and the new service areas feels slightly disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the second paragraph could be improved by grouping related features more effectively to enhance the overall progression.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the changes clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'renovated', 'restructure', and 'facility'. However, there are some inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'saled bar' (likely a typo for 'salad bar') and 'now have made to facilitate barbecue'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to architectural changes and layout descriptions, and ensure that your spelling is accurate, as errors like 'saled' detract from the professional tone of the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and tense usage, such as 'staff dining room... which now have been replaced' (should be 'has') and 'there is one more new sector that have introduced is saled bar' (should be 'has been introduced'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and punctuation. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
