Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the changes to the serving area and the addition of outdoor seating. However, the response lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention 'significant development,' you do not synthesize the information to highlight the most striking changes, such as the expansion of seating capacity. The description is somewhat fragmented, and some details, like the location of the barbecue, are slightly imprecise. To improve, ensure you group related features logically and provide a more comprehensive summary of the overall transformation rather than listing changes sequentially.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore,' 'Additionally,' and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression is occasionally interrupted by abrupt transitions. For example, the jump from the salad bar to the barbecue could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from a more sophisticated use of linking words to show the relationship between the 'before' and 'after' states more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the changes clearly. You use terms like 'undergone significant development,' 'transformed,' and 'constructed.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are some repetitive or slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'new things being added' and 'seating purpose.' To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to spatial changes, such as 'relocated,' 'expanded,' 'converted,' or 'partitioned,' and avoid generic phrases like 'new things.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'how does it looks now' (should be 'how it looks now') and 'the salad bars have been added also the bin has been replaced' (run-on sentence). There are also issues with article usage and prepositions, such as 'covered with kitchen' instead of 'occupied by the kitchen.' While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to limit your score in this criterion.
