Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While the student identifies some changes, such as the addition of a coffee bar and seating, the description is fragmented and lacks a clear overview or a structured comparison of the main features. The analysis is superficial, and the inclusion of personal opinions like 'This is a smart way' and 'great choose' is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which requires an objective summary of data. The response does not adequately cover all parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks logical progression and clear paragraphing. The sentences are disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and often inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'Also new thinks lot of increasing'. The lack of a clear introduction, body, and conclusion makes the text difficult to follow. Referencing is often unclear, and the overall arrangement of information is not coherent, failing to guide the reader through the changes shown in the plans.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and word formation, such as 'dinnig' (dining), 'thinks' (things), and 'choose' (choice). The student relies on basic, informal language that is not suitable for an academic report. There is no attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe spatial changes or trends, and the errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There are frequent errors in basic sentence structure, verb tense, and article usage (e.g., 'I looking this', 'Before had staff dinnig rooms', 'kitchen and toilet not changed'). The lack of complex structures and the high frequency of grammatical errors make the writing difficult to read. Punctuation is also inconsistent, further hindering the clarity of the message.
