Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the changes in the cafe, but it fails to provide a clear overview or a logical summary of the main features. The description is fragmented and lacks a structured approach, making it difficult to follow the transformation. While some features are mentioned, such as the kitchen and the new coffee bar, the comparisons are weak and often confusing. The response lacks a clear introduction and conclusion, and the information is presented in a disjointed manner, which prevents the reader from gaining a coherent understanding of the changes. To improve, focus on grouping related features and providing a clear summary of the most significant changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks logical organization and progression. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'Consequently' or 'Main while' in contexts where they do not fit. Paragraphing is absent, as the entire response is written as a single block of text, which hinders readability. Referencing is also unclear; for instance, 'the bottom of the both graph' and 'the main of the kitchen' are confusing. To improve, you should organize your ideas into clear paragraphs—one for the 'before' state, one for the 'after' state, and one for the main differences—and use linking words more naturally to connect your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'picture graph' instead of 'floor plans', 'chambers' instead of 'areas' or 'sections', and 'laying' instead of 'located' or 'positioned'. The phrase 'bar becue' is also misspelled and likely misused in this context. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precise vocabulary prevents a more sophisticated description of the layout. To improve, try to learn specific vocabulary related to describing diagrams, such as 'situated', 'adjacent to', 'transformed', and 'replaced'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'how it look now'), article usage (e.g., 'in the bottom of the both graph'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'And tables and chair are laying in the main of the kitchen'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some awkward phrasing. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and pluralization.
