Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the kitchen, serving area, and new additions like the barbecue and outdoor seating. However, the description is occasionally inaccurate or confusing, such as stating the serving area is 'being transformed into hot meals' rather than describing the physical change in layout. The overview is somewhat vague, focusing on general improvements rather than highlighting the most significant structural changes. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between what has been removed, added, or relocated, and provide a more precise summary of the spatial changes in the overview.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is appropriate for this task. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body and the final overview. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'In addition to,' which is grammatically incomplete, and 'Nevertheless,' which is used incorrectly to introduce a new addition rather than a contrast. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when describing the location of the new facilities. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'collage' instead of 'college,' 'categories' used as a verb, and 'costumers' instead of 'customers.' Some phrases are awkward, such as 'today cafe' and 'makes the complete cafe.' While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general meaning, the frequent errors and lack of sophisticated terminology limit the score. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more precise collocations related to maps and diagrams would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the kitchen is under the same position' (should be 'in'), 'staff dining rooms are categories' (should be 'categorized'), and 'the new facilities has been upgraded' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the misuse of prepositions and verb forms is consistent. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when describing spatial relationships on a map.
