Student answer (Band 7.5)

The maps illustrate the changes made to a college café before and after its renovation.

Overall, the café underwent significant redevelopment, with several new facilities and seating areas being introduced. The most noticeable change was the expansion of the seating arrangements. However, some features, including the kitchen, toilets and recycling bin, remained unchanged.

Before the renovation, the café had relatively few facilities. A kitchen was located in the north-west corner, while a serving area occupied the central section. There was also a staff dining area and a small number of tables and chairs. The toilets and recycling bin were positioned in the same places as they are now.

Following the renovation, the café was considerably modernised. The former serving area was converted into a hot-meals section, while the staff dining area was replaced by a takeaway food counter and a coffee bar. Furthermore, large tables were added inside, and an outdoor seating area was introduced, providing students with more space to eat and relax.
