Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the cafe redesign, including the conversion of the serving area, the addition of the salad bar, and the introduction of outdoor facilities. You have also correctly noted which areas remained unchanged. However, the response lacks a clear, cohesive overview paragraph; the summary is somewhat fragmented and repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview clearly synthesises the most significant changes rather than listing them in a way that overlaps with the body paragraphs. The information is generally accurate, but the structure of the report could be more professional and concise to better highlight the comparative nature of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. For example, you use 'Regarding the top left corner' and 'In side the building' in a way that feels slightly disjointed. The use of linking words is somewhat mechanical, and the transition between the description of the interior and the exterior is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly and avoid repeating the same information across different sections.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the changes clearly. You use relevant terms such as 'renovation', 'converted', and 'modernized'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'cafetaria', 'buillding', 'toilest', 'furnituer', and 'facilicies'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. To achieve a higher score, you should aim for more precise vocabulary related to spatial description and ensure that your spelling is accurate. Avoid repeating the same phrases, such as 'have been introduced' or 'have been changed', by using synonyms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow of your writing. Issues include incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'before it was renovation'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'barbecue and outdoor seating facilicies has been introduced'), and missing articles. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, pay closer attention to tense consistency—specifically the use of the present perfect passive—and ensure that your subjects and verbs agree in number.
