Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, including the kitchen, serving area, and new additions like the barbecue and outdoor seating. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While the main changes are identified, the comparison between the 'before' and 'after' states could be more sophisticated. The summary at the end is a bit repetitive, listing features rather than synthesizing the overall transformation. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping the information more logically—for example, by contrasting permanent features with new additions—rather than simply listing them as they appear on the map.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition between the description of the kitchen and the new additions feels abrupt. There is a lack of varied linking words to connect ideas smoothly. While the progression of information is generally logical, the paragraphing could be improved by ensuring each paragraph has a clear thematic focus. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the changes effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic verbs like 'is changed', 'is constructed', and 'is kept'. While these communicate the meaning, they do not demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'staff dinning rooms' (should be 'dining') and 'north-wesr' (spelling error). To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive verbs and nouns related to architectural changes, such as 'transformed', 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'integrated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'huge developments was seen' (should be 'were') and 'staff dinning rooms is changed' (should be 'were'). Additionally, there are missing articles and punctuation errors throughout. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and pluralization would significantly enhance the clarity of your writing.
