Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some key features of the cafe redesign, such as the addition of the salad bar and outdoor seating, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview. The description of the changes is fragmented and lacks the necessary detail to fully report the information provided in the plans. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introduction, a summary of the main trends, and detailed comparisons between the two diagrams, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure and logical progression. The ideas are presented in a disjointed manner, with very few cohesive devices used to link sentences or paragraphs. The text is essentially a single block of sentences rather than a well-organized report. To improve, you should group related information into distinct paragraphs—for example, one for the original layout and one for the changes. Use linking words such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', 'furthermore', and 'subsequently' to guide the reader through the comparison of the two plans.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'change', 'place', and 'add'. There are also several errors in word choice and form, such as 'what is the changing' instead of 'what the changes are' and 'taken food' instead of 'dining'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the visual data with precision. To improve, focus on learning specific terminology for describing diagrams, such as 'relocated', 'transformed', 'expanded', and 'converted', and ensure you use the correct parts of speech.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The diagram describe'), missing articles ('in the past cafe design'), and incorrect sentence structures ('In the past outdoor seating has no avialable'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically the use of 'there is/are', correct verb tenses for describing past and present states, and the proper use of articles and prepositions.
