Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response identifies the main changes, such as the addition of the salad bar and the barbecue area. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes, which is a requirement for Band 6 and above. The analysis is somewhat superficial, focusing on individual items rather than synthesizing the information. For example, the description of the kitchen area as 'similar' is vague, and the commentary on the cafe's 'reputation' is subjective rather than objective reporting. To improve, focus on grouping features logically and providing a clear summary of the overall transformation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into short, somewhat disjointed paragraphs. While there is a logical progression from the kitchen to the outside area, the use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally mechanical. Phrases like 'We start from' are informal and not suitable for an Academic Task 1 report. Furthermore, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'This difference has an impact in current design,' which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'elobrating' (elaborating), 'vegen' (vegan), and 'additionaly sounds good'. The use of 'costumers' instead of 'customers' is a spelling error that affects the professional tone. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to describing changes, such as 'converted into,' 'relocated,' or 'expanded,' rather than relying on basic verbs like 'replaced' or 'is'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Issues include incorrect article usage ('The photo shown in above'), subject-verb agreement errors ('There are quite differences'), and awkward sentence structures ('the addition of this spot in cafe may cause of more traffic'). There is a limited range of complex structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct use of prepositions, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms.
