Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, including the addition of outdoor seating and the modification of the dining area. You successfully identified the key changes and provided a clear overview. However, the report could be improved by providing more precise comparisons between the two plans. For instance, while you mention the kitchen remained, you could have more explicitly contrasted the spatial distribution of the new facilities compared to the old ones. The summary is generally accurate, but some details, such as the specific locations of the new salad bar and barbecue, could be described with more spatial precision to better guide the reader through the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'While', and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical punctuation errors, such as the period placement in 'In the first layout .In the centre'. Additionally, some transitions feel slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that your sentences flow more naturally into one another and avoid fragmented sentences. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within the paragraphs could be strengthened by using a wider variety of linking words to show relationships between the changes.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'transformation', and 'facilities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'staff dinning rooms' (should be 'dining') and 'bin replaced with recycling bins' (should be 'the bin was replaced'). You also rely on some basic phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise descriptive language related to spatial changes, such as 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'converted'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, increasing the variety and precision of your word choices would enhance the professional tone of the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use passive voice (e.g., 'have been introduced'), there are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'cafe has undergone' (needs 'The') and 'staff dinning rooms has replaced' (should be 'have been replaced'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around periods. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on consistent subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
