Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response identifies the main changes, such as the conversion of the staff dining room and the addition of outdoor seating. However, the description is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear, analytical overview of the transformation. While the key features are mentioned, the spatial relationships are described in a confusing manner (e.g., 'on the top of café'), making it difficult for the reader to visualize the layout changes. To improve, you should focus on grouping information logically—perhaps by area or by the nature of the change—rather than listing features in a disjointed way. The report covers the task requirements but lacks the precision needed for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often unclear. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'In addition' and 'After that'. Referencing is also problematic; for instance, 'Near this' and 'side of these' lack clear antecedents, making the text difficult to follow. The logical flow is hindered by these issues, and the transition between the 'before' and 'after' states could be managed more smoothly with better signposting and clearer paragraph structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'build', 'place', and 'area'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'staff dinning rooms' (spelling error: dining) and 'under of bin'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the changes with precision. To improve, you should incorporate more varied verbs and nouns related to architectural changes, such as 'transformed', 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'partitioned', and ensure you use correct collocations when describing the layout of a floor plan.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Their are some huge changes', 'their are kitchen') and incorrect preposition usage ('on the top of', 'under of'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before periods and commas. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the clarity of the description. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like 'there is/are' would significantly improve your score.
