Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides a clear overview of the changes, identifying the main features such as the kitchen, seating areas, and new additions like the salad bar and barbecue. You have successfully selected and reported the key information, making relevant comparisons between the 'before' and 'after' states. However, the description of the layout is slightly imprecise in places (e.g., 'lower side' instead of 'south side' or 'bottom'). To reach a higher band, ensure that spatial descriptions are more precise and that the overview highlights the most significant transformations, such as the shift from a basic dining area to a more diverse, modern facility.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs describing the changes, and a summary. You use some cohesive devices like 'It can be observed that' and 'however' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. The use of referencing could be improved to avoid repetitive sentence structures. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the 'before' state from the 'after' state, which helps the reader follow the progression of the information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redesigned', 'amenities', and 'constructed'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'has been remain' (should be 'has remained') and 'has been build up' (should be 'has been built'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Attempting to use more varied synonyms for 'added' or 'replaced' would improve the lexical quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and passive voice constructions, such as 'position of a kitchen has been remain' and 'a outdoor seating'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the information. To improve, focus on consistent subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive voice, which is essential for describing processes and changes in diagrams.
